First Friday: Get Out To VOTE!

On Friday August 7th, 2020, Concerned African Women, Inc. hosted its First Friday: Get Out to VOTE event! First Friday was cultivated from the idea of bringing individuals of the community together to talk about pressing issues such as: education, equity, leadership and empowerment. 

While our country is in the midst of a global pandemic, ongoing racial injustice and mourning the loss of Congressman John Lewis, we are compelled to highlight the importance of getting out to vote.

Whatever side you’re on, let’s “LIFT EVERY VOICE & VOTE!” Take a look below as the candidates who attended share their thoughts!

Candidate for Florida State Senate District 35, Ms. Barbara Watson, breaks down the necessary steps she would taake in order to improve the situations that our community finds itself in today.

Candidate for Florida House of Representatives District 102, Mr. Matthew Tisdol sheds light on the underlying issues behind many of our communities current issues.

Candidate for Miami-Dade County Mayor, Ms. Daniella Levine Cava, talks about economic development for small businesses within Miami-Dade county.

Candidate for Miami-Dade County Commissioner District 3, Ms.Tisa McGhee gives a brief background on herself and touches on what her 3 main pillars of focus would be if elected into office.

Candidate for Miami Gardens Residential Seat 3, Ms. Thera Johnson Jones talks about the importance of responding to COVID-19 appropriately to keep everyone as safe as possible.
